The Pakistan Super League drafts dates have been conducted from 21st December – 22nd December at Lahore University of Sciences in timing after 9:30 am. The auctions were divided into two phases. The auctions for Platinum Diamond and Gold categories were held at the first day whereas the rounds of auctions for Silver, Emerging and Supplementary players were held at 2nd day, at 22 December 2015.
So the PSL Draft is the phase where players of different categories would be presented among the franchises of teams and they would be bought according to the price criteria given. There are total 310 cricketers, which are further divided into 138 Pakistani and 172 foreigner players. Many international cricket icons would be seen in the list of players who would be part of the tournament.
The players would be bought in the draft by the franchises following a same pattern followed by American National Football League. They players would have signed up for being part of the Pakistan Super League.
The players have been put in various different categories and have been rated according to their category which obviously shows their level of game and talent. The category and prices as per the categories are:

The Format – PSL Draft
This is the very first time when draft system has been applied in Pakistan for any tournament like this but the draft system ensures you to have safer and balanced team for all. Each team will have a budget of 1 Million to get their team players and coaches. The draft order for round one of Pakistan Super League is Islamabad United followed by Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qualandar.
The conditions for the draft are:
- The Franchises will be paying a fixed price for each player.
- Teams need to pick a minimum of 16 players and a maximum squad of 20 with 4 supplementary players.
- A minimum salary cap of $985,000 is in place in case teams pick 16 players while in case of 20 players, they can pay a maximum of $1.1m.
- Teams need to pick three players from the Platinum, Diamond and Gold categories.
- Five players from the Silver Category will make the PSL Squads while two will be picked from the Emerging category.
- A minimum of 4 Pakistani and 4 foreign players per team.
The Pakistan Super League has gained so much fame among the people of Pakistan and it is expected that it will bring fame and name both to Pakistan. This Super League has all 5 teams set for the battling matches in the fields starting off from February 4th 2016.
